Winter Formal

Due to scheduling conflicts, the date of the Winter Formal has been changed to February17th. Tickets will go on sale soon and will also be available at the door. Please note there is a dresscode for all formal dances. This dress code and all expectations can be found on page 47 of thehandbook. For formal dances, jeans, T-shirts, hats, and athletic shoes are not permitted. Studentsmust wear a collared shirt/tie, formal dress, or pant suit. Students that do not comply with thisexpectation will not be permitted entry to the dance and will not be refunded the cost of theticket. Guest forms are available in the main office and are due by 3:00 pm on Friday, February9th. NO forms will be accepted after this date-no exceptions. The scholarships, totalling $24,750.00, are made possible through the generous donations made by individuals to the Endowment to benefit the students of Firelands High School.A full list of scholarships and application instructions are available on the website or in the FHS Student Services Office. SAT Test- March 6

The Ohio Department of Education provides the SAT to all juniors, free of charge. The SAT testing date will be on Wednesday, March 6th, with testing beginning at 8:00 am on that date. This is a mandatory test for all juniors, including students attending the LCJVS and CCP full-day students at Lorain County Community College. Students in the other three grades will not have class that day at Firelands High School. Students in grades 9, 10, and 12 should use the day to shadow career interests or do a college visit. The SAT should end that day at around 10:30 for regularly timed testing rooms. Students will be excused at the completion of testing. The time will vary due to varying start times in each testing room. Students who receive testing accommodations will test that date until approximately 12:00 pm. Again, times will vary due to variations in accommodations and start times.Please check with your student to see if they will receive special testing accommodations. All juniors that normally attend LCJVS are excused from their classes this day so that they can complete the SAT. All LCJVS juniors are expected to report to Firelands High School at 7:30 to test. Testing rooms will be assigned alphabetically and posted in the front of the building. Breakfast will be available for purchase prior to testing and lunch will be available at the conclusion of testing. Busses will be available at the end of the regular school day (2:30) for students that need transportation home. Students riding the bus will have a study hall for the remainder of the day after testing is concluded.

It’s not quite a town because its residents never got around to getting organized, so it almost doesn’t exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broke. The bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

The Little Mermaid- Spring Musical

Come one, Come all to the 30th annual Firelands Middle School Musical. The 7th and 8th grade choir members will be presenting from the story by Hans Christian Andersen, The Little Mermaid. Come and see many familiar characters and even some new ones perform at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 26 and Wednesday, March 27. Tickets are on sale now during school hours.
